Later, as Yusuke teamed up with Kuwabara, Hiei, and Kurama, Botan helps the whole team as well. She used to view Yusuke as an interesting subject to study until she develops a bond with him, and becomes a valuable ally and close friend. She's also bubbly and cautiously optimistic, but can be a bit of a scaredy-cat.

Crawling out of the remains of the Dark Tournament Stadium, he realized that even his body's incredible healing powers would take some time to recover from such grievous wounds. Beforehand, Elder Toguro was supposedly done in another time, but he survived, albeit horribly weakened. This was seemingly the end for the villain, but in actuality, it was all part of his long-term plans. During the "Chapter Black" Saga, Elder Toguro was eaten by the demonic Gourmet.
